The Marcia dei Sarmati takes place on the second Sunday of June every year; it starts in Stra, also involves the Vigonovo area, and crosses the parks of famous villas on the Brenta Riviera.
A characteristic feature of this now famous recreational event is the crossing of the parks of five Venetian villas – Villa Pisani, Villa Foscarini Rossi, Villa Loredan, Villa De Lazara Pisani La Barbariga, Villa Sagredo, and many other special passages such as Parco Sarmazza, the footbridge over the waterway, Villa Vecchio Platano, Brenta, Piovego, Naviglio, and Tergola Idrovia. Participants encounter figures dressed in Venetian costumes in the parks of the villas.
In addition to the race, participants can also enjoy a large treasure hunt with thousands of prizes based on finding, collecting, and exchanging points cards. It is possible to purchase more cards by interacting with the “Sarma Color Game”, which includes obstacle courses and animations with colored powders.
