Oriago in Bloom

Every year in April, in Oriago di Mira, between Piazza Mercato and Riviera San Pietro, a market exhibition of flowers, plants and items related to the horticultural sector is organised.

More than 100 exhibitors, including florists, nurserymen, farmers and other operators in the sector, participate annually, offering flowers and plants that fill our homes and gardens with enchanting colours and springtime scents, confirms Michele Campalto, President of the Pro Loco association that organises the event.

Piazza Mercato and Riviera San Pietro are transformed for the occasion into a large pedestrianised flower-filled area, with the magical Riviera del Brenta and its Venetian villas as a backdrop. A snake of stands winds its way along the Naviglio canal, displaying handmade crafts, natural and organic products, gardening items and accessories, gifts and outdoor furniture alongside the flowers.

Oriago has its own flower of excellence, the hydrangea, a flower typical of Venetian villas. Hydrangeas welcome the participating public and tourists staying in the Riviera’s accommodation facilities, and are used to decorate the tables of local restaurants.
