A River of Musical Notes

The Villas of the Brenta Riviera come alive with music and melodies every year, especially between June and July, during the “Un Fiume di Note” musical tours. These concerts feature the debut performances of groups of highly talented young musicians from various British colleges, who perform in prestigious venues across Europe and here are welcomed by the splendid villas and magnificent gardens of the Riviera. The same groups also perform in other prestigious locations, such as St. Mark’s Basilica and theatres throughout the Veneto region.

The creator of the festival, now in its eighth edition, is Elisabetta Fogarin, President of the Consorzio Ville Venete, organizer of the events, and lover of music and the precious Venetian villas, who emphasizes:

More than art, more than literature, music is universally accessible. Sometimes there are one-off concerts or off-season festivals featuring internationally renowned professionals. The Venetian Villas are the ideal place to listen to good music: the acoustics, the halls, the frescoes, the gardens, and the statues blend perfectly with the notes and create truly unique and unrepeatable experiences.

The musical offerings are varied: classical, pop, rock, and jazz. The concerts are free until all seats are taken, and reservations are recommended. Each venue also hosts additional events to make the evenings unforgettable — with aperitifs, tastings, and guided nighttime tours of villas and gardens. It’s an unmissable opportunity to enjoy live music performed by orchestras, bands, and choirs of up to 100 members, all set in enchanting, fairy-tale locations.

The concerts are usually held in the magnificent Villas of the Riviera del Brenta — at Villa Pisani and Villa Foscarini Rossi in Stra, Villa Ducale in Dolo, and Villa Widmann in Mira. Every year, new and different venues are added along the Brenta Canal to showcase the area’s historical and architectural beauty.
