Since the 18th century, every October, Noventa Padovana has hosted an ancient traditional festival, once called the Autumn Fair, but which over the years, perhaps thanks to its centuries-old river link with Venice, has focused on a typical product: the octopus.
The ancient fair has thus become the Fiera del Folpo (the Octopus Fair), where octopus, boiled in water and seasoned with garlic, oil, and parsley, is served at food stands and small kiosks run by folpàri. In addition to hot octopus, however, you can enjoy many other traditional local fish specialties, such as “masenette” and “bovoletti”, inevitably washed down with rivers of wine and beer.
The culinary offerings are accompanied by a whirlwind of activities, experiences, dancing, and music for all ages, culminating in a grand fireworks display that closes the event and sets the date for the following year.
